LG’s super efficient NeoN solar panel has won Intersolar’s prestigeous Photovoltaic Award, held in Munich 19 June 2013.
The particularly high-performing solar module, the Mono X NeoN, boasts both improved efficiency and relatively low costs for the end consumer. The special innovation of the NeON is to use N-type (bifacial) solar cells, which use the solar insolation (sunshinew) from both sides. The modules, measuring only 1m x .,6 m, the same size as the conventional 60 cell 250watt monocrystalline products , but offer an efficiency of 18.3% for the 300W module and 18,6 for the 310W module.
Furthermore, at 17.3 kg the solar modules are especially light-weight, but with strong wind loading.
They are highly resistant against environmental effects, too. Markus Lambert, LG’s National Manager Solar said:” The jury of Intersolar 2013 was especially impressed with the solar module’s combination of new technologies used, the sustainable use of resources and the economic viability”.
