Ducted gas is a form of whole of home heating that is not well known in Perth but is very popular in the Eastern States
They are becoming increasingly popular in Western Australia because they are a quiet, safe, healthy and low cost option which combines well with a ducted evaporative system. They are purchased as an alternative to ducted refrigerated air conditioners
Purchase price at around $3,000 to $6,500 installed within Perth metro area. This is about half the cost of ducted reverse cycle
The air is warmed by a gas fuelled heat exchanger which is then distributed throughout the home via a system of ducts located in the ceiling space
Though generally not required, these systems are able to be zoned
Low operating cost at 0.028 cents per square metre per day or around $3 per day
